About Coney Hill Farm
Coney Hill Farm was designed by the renowned York architect Walter Brierley, who designed over 300 distinctive properties throughout Yorkshire and was nicknamed 'the Yorkshire Lutyens'. Coney Hill Farm is believed to be a unique grouping of Brierley Farm architecture.
Coney Hill Farm has been farmed by the Galtrey family for over 100 years and currently comprises a dairy herd of pedigree Jersey cows, sheep and arable land. The farm is located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and the Galtrey family are passionate about preserving the biodiversity of the farm and developing sustainable farming practices that will help to protect the natural environment. The family have recently worked with the Biorenewables Development Centre at the University of York to help reduce their carbon footprint.
Meet the Cows
The small but perfectly formed herd of 40 Jersey cows produce the delicious milk that form the basis of Coney Hill Farm Creamery products. Each member of the herd has a unique personality and the family work hard to keep them cool and relaxed in our fields summer and warm and dry in spacious brick barns in winter. Three generations of the Galtrey family manage the herd and have many years of experience with this wonderful breed. You can meet some of the family's personal favourites below!
